It is. We have two 'house-helps' who work for us and live on the estate. Without them, our time would be curtailed to detrimental effect - and I would certainly starve to death as I loathe cooking!

@EugenieLaBorgia right when I was growing up we had several and it was lovely. It was impossible to make sure everything was cleaned and maintained yourself. Oh and the cooking like you mentioned was a godsend

@Addictedtoglamour Absolutely! I suppose some people still have that 'cotton-fields' notion that maids are subservient lackeys. They are not. It is a skill to serve in a household with a full complement of servants and it is much to be admired and respected.

@EugenieLaBorgia besides not everyone is rude to maids. My family treated ours very well

@Addictedtoglamour That is very, very true! We look upon ours almost as Greek godesses!!

@EugenieLaBorgia and you can form bonds with them. I was very close to one of them. She helped me when I was being bullied badly in school

@Addictedtoglamour The women here have been employed by my family for over twenty years and are very 'maternal' in the gentlest of ways. We regard themas such, too, and, at times, we both are sometimes gently 'scolded'!!
