Electric guitar tip

I wish I had known when I first started that a callous is your friend.....I remember the first time I had to really start learning techniques like slides and bends and got into hammer ons and pull offs.....more to the point my first time bending one of the strings it felt like it was going to slice my finger......I just kept doing this over and over off and on for days.....seemed like weeks now it's almost like my fret hand has little string groves in it lol....

Ya gotta bend to play the blues. I love how David Gilmore does these really big, accurate bends up to the root note instead of just playing the note by itself.

I think a beginner can start doing unison bends pretty quickly. They really help you to start paying attention to pitch. Then once they get the hang of that, train wreck bends are a breeze. Suddenly it starts to sound like you're better than you really are. Those little tricks add up.

Not at all. These are just techniques which build upon one another. Not learning them would be like learning to walk, but not bothering to learn how to run or jump. All i'm saying is that the more techniques and variations of those techniques you learn, the more well rounded your game will be. And like legos, one block builds upon the next.

So true. I didn't practice enough so I had to develop my calluses again. It sucked but its definitely worth it.

In order to play some ones music like Eric Johnson-cliffs of Dover and joe satriani bends etc are a must know
