people love for the deception they create of others. i know a lot of people are just using online for sex so that can bring a form of attachment. its all pure fantasy online.

@badapple fantasy is what some people want

Why do people "get attached" in real life?

Maybe because they found someone online who they get along really well with when there is nobody in their personal life who understands them? 🤔 Not the case with me, but I have heard stories about people who experience bullying, mental health issues or prejudice who have made really good friends online when they can't find anyone in real life.

A strong desire to be seen, understood, accepted and to know oneself. It's just not a conscious process for many and is why many go without what they need, that is right in front of them. Understanding how we're all reflections is what helps to mend ourselves to feel more whole. Connections are made when you can make the first connection, of self awareness, and realizing this- it's all around you, to help you if you can see it.

That's not very kind. Some people don't have any other way to make a connection. For me, although I'm not looking for a romantic relationship, I've enjoyed building friendships with a few people. I can honestly say I've grown to love them very much. What's the difference between this and having an old fashioned "pen pal" besides the time between replies?

Delusional? Only in some instances.
Forming attachments is the human behavior everywhere. Putting up walls is a defense mechanism, and that too happens everywhere.
You can be selective with it and intelligent at it.

Everyone needs affection in some way or another
Smokey · 46-50, M
@SW-User not always it takes two strong people though

SW-User
That can rarely work @Smokey
Smokey · 46-50, M
@SW-User not with that attitude😂 jk
That too on a anonymous site. Don't get it

SW-User
@marcusaurelius I can understand if they contact offline and feelings are mutual but just a one sided anonymous relationship is strange

It is human nature to want to create connections with others. Be it online or off. For all sorts of reasons people form relationships and connections with others online. Sadly there are people who take advantage of others need for connection.
dumpstermeow · 41-45, F
I'm not someone who gets attached easily, and yet it's happened to me online several times. I think it's because I don't like being around actual people. 🤷🏼

SW-User
When you see people as people, you get attached to them anywhere. Online/ offline is just a medium.
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
Are you saying I should stop feeling attached to you?

SW-User
@5thApprentice haha

That is because you cannot make connections here. Why not?
masterofyou · 70-79, M
Why do you get attached to people online....
Dayeshadow · 51-55, M
Well, it can.be a good start to a relationship because you only talk with no chance of sex
masterofyou · 70-79, M
