Do you think 'about me' section is important on a profile?

I think it is. For one thing, it gives the impression that this SW process interests you and you want to use the tools available. For another, it helps let people know something about your interests and maybe what you hope to gain here.

You can also use it to make a statement about what you’re NOT here for.

I believe it is. It gives people a sense of who you are, and whether they sent to chat with you.

Important to people who have attention spans and who take the time to read and find out about what makes people tick. They are really fun to read, especially the ones who take the time and effort to write them, writing is becoming a lost art today.
