You're never too old for an education.
melmouthfulls · 51-55, F
Geez so many responses so quickly you would think this post contained nudity lol
@melmouthfulls Now you’re talkin!!!
Yes. Either you mean high school, in which case, what school is allowing that haha or you mean Uni, in which case, why bother as you will be too old to get a job in the field you're studying
RubySoo · 56-60, F
College is college? School is school and uni is uni?
@RubySoo College is just a term to refer to a school. In NZ it is only used to mean High School but in the US it is used only to mean University. So I clarified.
RubySoo · 56-60, F
In the UK college is futher education. After leaving school...for adults of all ages running alsorts of courses....of all levels.

After working in the bank for his entire 20s and 30s and mid 40s. My father became a pilot at 48.
He then became a flight instructor. Never too old even for him. He's retired now at 77.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Dusty101 he sounds like a cool guy.
Dusty101 · F
@FreeSpirit1 yes he's cool.. to his wife. Long story.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
When the education system was designed people generally lived into their 70's and retired in their mid-60's. Today, it is not out of possibility to live into your 100's. And, based on economic conditions, you will likely work into your 80's. So, no 50 is not too old to go to college and could have significant benefits to make it worthwhile, both financially and from a personal development perspective. No partying on school nights, though.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
For career opportunities? Probably. For learning to grow as a person? Never.

@Vetrov Yeah sure but I just do not think that it's worth it at that point unless you really want it for yourself.
Vetrov · 61-69, M
@MartinTheFirst It was worth it in my case.....graduated six weeks on the “sunny side” of fifty.

Thebartender · 36-40, M
Its never too late
👍 NO. Your life experience will allow you to appreciate it more than you would at 18yrs. You wont receive a good education you will take it, own it, and understand that 'no one' can take it away from you.
TexChik · F
Absolutely not ... it may be more challenging than anticipated ... . Sitting in a lecture hall for 8 hours during a continuing education course in my profession is a lot harder that it used to be ..,and I’m 37 😉
thetucker · 61-69, M
Never to old to go to school. College, I've seen some in their 80's finishing high school. Do what you want, follow your heart.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
NO but times have changed and the teachers now have a more hidden agenda and can be very left wing nutters - especially in welfare
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
Nope! Actually I support it, like when someone restarts to study after retiring from job.
celine211 · 22-25, F
My teacher had a 70 something year old guy in her course at university

No. Colleges prefer older students.
No your not. I taught at a university for years. I taught night classes mainly because it gave older students (who had family or job duties during the day). But... had older students during the day. My very best to you. Have a great day. Larry

Evened · 51-55, M
No, it never is!
melbeacher · 56-60, M
Nope ! Now you are wiser !
Heartlander · 80-89, M
No.

While it may seem like a step backwards or a delay in your life, think of it instead as an opportunity to gather more tools, resources, knowledge and insights, and a chance to take an even bigger step afterwards.
marsbar · F
No, not at all.
alan20 · M
I've had quite a few piano pupils aged over 50 and actually prefer that age group to children. At least you know they're there because they want to learn and not because their parents want them to learn.

Not at all.
