"Addiction" sometimes gets a bad rap. For instance, at the onset I hated going to the gym, I really struggled to make myself go. After three weeks it became a habit, and from there, an "addiction" where I felt miserable if I didn't go. I had to modify m behavior so that it didn't become an obsession, I recognized it was happening. Now I have things in balance. But you're quite right about your observation.

@Coyotedave611 My approach can be also viewed this way: A habit leaves us room for being functional in our everyday life and relations, where as an obsession blocks us from functioning until it is fulfilled. It takes up most of our time and energy.
