Are people who suffer from depression, basically realists?

The vast majority of people have an (undeserved) high opinion of themselves. At times, I think that people with depression have simply accepted that they, and life in general, just aren't that great.

I'm not depressed coolboy. I have depression; major depression and general anxiety disorder to be exact. I've been under medical care (outpatient and inpatient), counseling (outpatient and inpatient), and drug therapy (you get the point) for the better part of twenty years. Trust me...being happy or unhappy has NOTHING to do with it.
Also, having a partner makes absolutely no difference either. Another person in you life is not a cure for what ails you. Getting up off your behind, cutting the craps and stopping the self pity party would be a much better first step. People are only sympathetic for so long until it gets tiring...we can't hold ourselves and others up at the same time. Eventually everyone is accountable for their own person...we all have to choose what we are going to do then do it.
I want to thank you for your comment coolboy. I was getting pretty comfortable in my own pity party today. You have reminded me that I am stronger and better than my stresses and problems. I appreciate you for that.
