If you're in the states, late-April thru June are the most active months. If I was going to dedicate some travel to storm-hunting, I'd do the Gulf coast & Florida. The recent years have been a little lighter across the country but at least the Gulf & Florida offer something to do and enjoy when the storms don't materialize - more than say the plains of OK, NE & others in Tornado Alley.

@hlpflwthat do you think I'm mad wanting to see a tornado

Not at all. Saw my first at age 5 and I'm still the last to head downstairs when the sirens are blowing. I live on a hillside that faces west & all of us head outside to watch in the street together until the storm gets here.

There aren't many things get your blood pumping like seeing a funnel drop out of the grey.

@hlpflwthat I'm so jealous lol. Being in England its extremely rare to get one

Hurricane winds will get you the same effect with much better 'reliability' and a longer-lasting experience.

But with today's weather maps & forecasting, a rental car, and 2 weeks vacation in late May-early June, I'd think you'd get to witness something in the course of a few years effort. Maybe you'd hit on the first attempt! :)

@hlpflwthat I've only been to USA once I went to kissimee in Florida in 2007 wasn't storm chasing though. Is kissimee a good spot

I think Florida is as good a spot as any. Kissimee's proximity to Disney probably makes it more expensive for lodging than other smaller towns. The one thing about the southern half of Florida is that there are only a few routes that cross from coast-to-coast east-west through the swamp. In more inland areas, you're able to use secondary routes to get to much more specific locations.
