Are you high maintenance and need central heating and running water and whatnots?

Or can you survive without?
I can survive without. Druther not, but I can. I can also skin a buck and run a troutline. Again, druther not.
@Peaches You knew people with garages? Upper crust!
Peaches · F
@Mamapolo2016 Haha! Most homes here have garages. 😊
@Peaches Here too. Now.

A few years back, spent 6 months in the woods...So, yes can survive. :)
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@puck61 We don't really have very many herbs growing wild in Wales anymore too much spruce forestry very acid soil. Lots of invasive wild plants here. Japanese knotweed which can destroy a house. Lots of ground elder that the Romans introduced you can eat it, tastes of nothing but it will help keep you alive. Been getting into collecting seaweed, nice fried.
@AliceTinker I know you have what we call 'miner's lettuce' and fern sprouts? Dandelion? Mullen?
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@puck61 oh sure, sorry what I meant was not as much as when I was a child, they were everywhere then or seemed to be. A few months ago I had no veg so picked tons of dandelions, ate the whole plants from top to bottom.
Not sure about fern sprouts? Will look that up. Not really up on my ferns, just know the ones you can worm dogs with.
Northerner · 70-79, M
We made the choice almost 20 years ago and decided to leave the rat race. We have never been happier.
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@Northerner 👍️
Primnproper · 56-60, F
I like the comforts of home but I could also live with the old open log fire but running water be it cold or hot is a must for me..lol
Oh, I would go to the depths of hell with you. I know that is a bit bold, but I mean it. Let's take baths in snow! Let's wrap our wounds with moss and seal them with pitch.
Peaches · F
@puck61 Oh I KNOW you got "big balls!" 😆🤣[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W-fIn2QZgg]
@AliceTinker Thanks. You were the only one who could let me off the hook!
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@puck61 nothing to let you off the hook for ❤

Central heating? During winter, sure, but right now I'm wishing we had air-conditioning!

In truth,I do enjoy the benefits offered by a modern home and modern technology and would sooner have them than not, but I don't think of that as high maintenance - it's standard in the developed world.
Brianthesnail · 56-60, M
Log fires and cold showers
condor · 61-69, M
Like running water for my bath
condor · 61-69, M
Please don't
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@condor 😆 too late, think he's locked you in
condor · 61-69, M
Wish we were locked in!!
I can survive without but I do not want or care to.
I've grown accustomed to the convenience.
Also, I enjoy grocery stores!
Eddienj · 70-79, M
I could survive but want the creature comforts.
DreamingOfSummer · 26-30, F
I've spent two weeks backpacking and had a great time! Those are all "nice to have's" but I could live without them. But I'm not gonna turn them off if I do have them! lol...
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@DreamingOfSummer Think you've summed it up Dreaming ( if I can call you that ) I think even the most hardy of us off grid people would use it if it's there.
DreamingOfSummer · 26-30, F
@AliceTinker :) Dreaming works for me! What kind of doofus uses the word Deaming???? 🤦
Rhodesianman · 56-60, M
I used to do this a lot when younger going bush at every chance I got in Africa .Now due to ill health and disability no longer able .The joys of getting old and the body failing .
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@Rhodesianman I know I was talking to a friend of mine about previous adventures in younger years and roughing it in the wilds. He no longer can because of a severe disability and constant pain. Very sad but he raised a glass to his younger self.
I stay in an off the grid cabin every summer. No running water or electricity. It’s in the middle of nowhere and an absolutely wonderful time for my family.
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
Peaches · F
I'm not high maintenance when it comes to makeup and clothes, but I do like running water and heat when I'm cold.⭐
jennypenny · 70-79, F
I can survive without because I did so as a kid. However I will admit the modern amenities make life far more pleasant
SW-User
I don’t mind missing those things. If the government gets any more incompetent we may be facing shortages of these.
If that is considered being high-maintenance, then yes, I am without question!!
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Yes. If I can have those in the middle of nowhere I’m good to go!
GenerationX · 41-45, M
Hell yes. I’d go to jail before I’d love without those things. 😂
SW-User
Yes I'm a modern man and need the modern luxuries
Barebum61 · 61-69, M
I could survive ,I would kind of dig it
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I love my luxuries. But I have done without.
BeachBum · F

MinMan80 · 41-45, M

revenant · F

HeyRouben · 41-45, M
I can live without it!
TheShanachie · 61-69, M
I can survive without! I have running water but no central heat or air and my house was built in the 1800s, very happy about that!
