Owning dogs is abuse

Dogs are wild animals who belong in the wild
Top | New | Old
You do know that dogs are probably the ONLY animal truly domesticated by man for which keeping them would not be abuse, right?
@HoraceGreenley oh. cool.
@HoraceGreenley It is his way or the highway. Seriously. Hi, guy!

@PoetryNEmotion Hi! There's no denying Biology. If pokey doesn't like dogs, that's OK.

But they are domesticated animals.

It looks like a forest

Dude, dogs are domesticated wolves. There are few wild dogs species in the wild, like African Hunting dogs, and none of them are pets.

Science is conservative since it deals with reality. Liberals have no concept of reality therefore they only claim to be scientific when in fact they are mentally ill.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@CopperCicada my point was my political views have nothing to do with science
@HoraceGreenley Well I would agree with that. But then others here such as @hippyjoe1955 would assert I have to be a liberal because I am trained as a scientist, and hate God because I find religious inspiration in science. So one can never know.

Then it's also abuse to keep cats, birds, horses, pigs, cows, chickens, and sheep as either pets or for agriculture. No more meat for you.

@pokeyphilosophy Some vegetarians consume food from animal sources, like milk and eggs. You changed my question by answering about vegans instead. Tricky, and didn't go unnoticed. Vegans get their B12 either from supplements or from foods fortified with B12 (which are many and various).

It's interesting that you think it's cruel to keep a dog in a family environment and let it live its full life, but don't find culling chickens at the age of six weeks cruel, when they've lived four weeks in the space the size of a piece of paper and their last two weeks on their knees, enfeebled by drugs. You have a strange idea of what is cruel or not, seemingly determined by your own hang-ups.

@pokeyphilosophy I agree. Natural sources of B12 are a better first choice, but not the only choice. When weighed against the cruelty to animals, I'm surprised you wouldn't make this small sacrifice to save billions of lives.

The way you see dogs is completely wrong. Yes, dogs are the animal, but they are also just like us. They want to have a family, friend, and love. You never own a dog so you can't see the good side of it.

My Chihuahua/Jack Russell and my pitbull would die out in the wild. They are completely domesticated, they rely on me and the kibble I feed them to the blanket I supply them at night.

@rottenrobi apparently genetics has nothing to do with it 🙄
rottenrobi · 56-60, F
@TexChik No, nothing at all to do with biology.

You could say that about all animals so let's not own pets.

Dogs provide many valuable services for we mere humans. But I truly do not expect everyone to love dogs.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
It's not abuse at all. They are lovedvery much and are very happy.

Foolishly wrong . Dogs are domestic animals , derived from wild animals but genetically engineered over time to produce the desired characteristics . They barely resemble coyotes or wolves or dingos . And , If suddenly returned to the wild , domesticated dogs would suffer at first , then run in packs , and killing anything they could catch for food . The natural immunities wild dogs have are not shared by domestic animals . Basically most would die. Dogs are domestic animals that have no business in the wild .

@pokeyphilosophy domestic dogs ? Yes . Man genetically engineered dogs to serve their purpose .
dumpstermeow · 41-45, F
Dogs are too domesticated. Not many would survive in the wild.
IAMMONARAHIMI · 36-40, F
They deserve loving homes but if like Istanbul is they did roam wild, they can get fed and have their freedom if they wanted it
