How often do you think "quit whining and get over it"?

How often do you say such things?

we are in a generation of cry babies ,
but unless they are kids I can advise to do better
I leave them be ,
The time to really teach them was from birth to age 8 ,
if they are in their teens or beyond ,little chance I can change them now .
If they are around me long ,they will see there are real things to cry about
and they don't have any .
We deal with people who have reasons to cry

@rckt148 Agreed.
Out of curiosity, who is we, and why do you deal with people who have reasons to cry? Some form of charity?

@VolpeTredici my kids are nurses /care givers ,I have also been a care giver .
I often help people who are about to lose their kids ,providing them with suitable shelter until I can help make repairs that HRS is requiring to keep them in their own homes .
My kids look into services that can help them ,and if push comes to shove one of my daughters is a foster care provider .she is licensed to take in the children until homes are repaired or other relatives that might want the children are cleared to take them ( she is not looking to take anyones child and it sure is not for the money ,its heart breaking to put time into children you know one day you will have to give up ,but she loves Kids ,we all do .
I have helped a lot of families that had reasons to cry ,
My Daughters ,Son and Grandkids go every holiday to feed the homeless at our local mission .
Afterwards they go door to door feeding shut ins ,and while doing so they get to meet the ones who could use other services they may not be aware of ,and see if they want someone to just drop in on them just to check on them ,(with so many that are taken advantage of many are scared to allow anyone to help them ,so my Daughter is very good at reaching those people and assuring them no one is there to uproot them or to take from them ,they are genuinely there to help .
And its more than just something they only do twice a year ,they are actually out looking for people that can't help themselves and see if they can't change that ,
Even if its only a ride to the doctors ,or just someone to come by and visit with them so they know they are not alone .
They also go into the nursing homes to visit with the elderly ,and sing for them and also let the staff know that someone does care about these people and will be checking in on them from time to time (Elderly people who get no visitors are more likely to be neglected as opposed to those the staff knows someone will be by to check on them ,don't let her show up and they have bed sores ,it won't be good )
We seem to end up the shoulders people seek out when they need someone to care .
But as there are many who also seek out kind people to enable them as well ,
we run into those too who prefer using people and crying about how bad their lives are instead of changing them ,able bodied ,sound minds ,they just have no conscience about taking from people who can hardly care for themselves .
I can get them jobs ,I can make them stay and work .

Some actually thrive off the sympathy of others and have no problem using people who don't have the heart to tell them no .
We have been at it long enough we can usually spot the ones who need help from the ones just looking for an enabler pretty quick .and sadly ,that number is growing .
I was once a drunk and a drug addict myself ,who ended up homeless ,
But I know a lot of people due to no fault of their own who have ended up homeless too ,,,those are the ones we try to help .
Not the ones happy to be homeless ,and many are ,they have their little camp and the little things they need and they are happy to be right where they are ,
They are just looking for someone to hussle ,,we know the difference ,

But my response was not looking for a door to brag on ourselves ,
Its just a sad truth ,to many today have an entitled mentality ,and they think working a job like flipping burgers or washing cars are below them .
Well I am an honorably discharged vet who is also disabled ,,but if I can wash cars to feed my family ,so can any other able bodied person who is hungry enough .We know to many physically and mentally challenged people "Fighting " for a chance just to be treated like everyone else ,
So to baby healthy people who just have the mentality to cry about what a shitty life they have ,and they have not even tried living it yet ,(I still try to be kind to them ,but I don't have much patience for it .
They want a Mommie or Dad to do it the rest of their lives for them .
Those as a rule I can't change ,unless they want to go with us sometime ,
And see what a reason to cry really is ,
But I try not to judge ,I know many of them that was just how they were raised .

@rckt148 Wow. Bragging or not, that is very impressive. I would hope some people could get some inspiration from your comment.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@VolpeTredici Me too ,LOL
That is my reason to be here
to encourage ,share stories that even the disabled can make a difference ,
How you raise you children when they are small is the kind of teens and young adults you will end up with .
A little of myself ,my success and how quick a medical condition can change your life .
I identify with hardship and addictions ,but I don't think they are excuses to quit .
If we all showed other a little kindness and respect ,we could change our world one person at a time if need be .
I hope I present myself as a humble man who cares ,its not my intent to brag .
But I have made the best of the cards I have been dealt ,and the rewards I reap are my Kids ,Children anyone would be proud of .
As I tell HRS or anyone else who tries to school me on raising kids ,
"I got this and the proof is in the pudding ,I will consider your suggestions when you can brag about the same results ,I know how to Guide children in the way they should go ,in the end ,my kids made their own choices to follow me ,none were brain washed or forced ,I just set an example ,I practice what I preach .
And we owe it all to God ,the one who enables us all .
He is the only one who is worthy to be praised ,we are just servants .
We pray we do a good job representing Him ,its not about us
but I try to share in a way friends and others see that ,
it is not my intent to preach or convert anyone ,just share who I am
and hope some like who they see ,,but I know I can't please everyone ,nor do I try ,I am just me ,my opinions and stories are from the heart .
Not really trying to impress anyone ,thats just who I am
have a great day ,and thanks for your kindness

@rckt148 Well, i don't and almost certainly never will agree with the God thing, but the rest is probably the best thing I've ever read on this site. Keep being you.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@VolpeTredici not here to convert anyone ,
He did not need help getting my attention
but I am thankful for the good examples I met along the way
not all of the loved God .
Thanks for the kind words ,Blessing only means happy
so I wish you much happiness ,and thanks again
