Is it considered rude to not answer the door when my boyfriends mother knock?

She has been wanting to have small talks, I hate small talks. She's terribly obnoxious and thinks nobody is worthy of her son. I deliberately miss any outing that she's involved in. I'm not an angel but I do not have to listen to her never ending criticism.

No you do NOT have to listen to her. Set your boundaries with her now in case she becomes your MIL.

If she's coming without invitation then I'd say no.
But if she knows you're in then it may be hard to explain.

My mil has a key which makes it harder, most of the time I ignore what she says and move on
