why is it so hard to make friends?

Sigh. It gets harder as you get older. The situations in which lonely new people meet each other--like going to school or starting a job or training in the army--lessen as we age. And it's even harder, and more necessary, to have friends when you get to the age where a lot of your friends start dying. That's one of the reasons I joined a church. If I figure out any ideas on how to do it, I'll post them here.
