Before a/c's you did it because you didn't have a choice. Now it's a necessity. I live in Las Vegas. Summer temps average 105.

Not where I've lived. In southern California, the temps haven't changed that much, just a few degrees.

I guess tenneseans must stank while sweating their asses off in the heat. ewww

@Cerebellum if it's over 82 degrees you cannot fall asleep with a stupid fan blowing hot air on you. It is humid in the US, unlike overseas where there is no humidity and a fan could work. WHen I was living overseas the fan made me feel cool but here it only blows hot air on me. Also overseas it was hot during the day and at night it would be windy and cool. I wish it was like that here!
We only use the AC when temperature in the house = 90. Which means it's 100 + degrees outside, and always turn it off when going to bed. However my bedroom is on the second floor & like an oven occasionally.
I have an overhead fan going 24/7 & small one next to bed.
Do I ever sleep? Not for frigging ever.

In the past it wasn't as hot as it is now, I remember in the mid 80s we didn't even need fans most of the time. The ozone layer is damaged from all the polution that's why it's too hot .

They must take a bath in sweat all day and the older people probably die of heat strokes in the summer. It's not healthy to sit in a oven

It's call acclimanting. You become used to the temps so they don't bother you as much.
