Has anyone ever considered lobotomy when they can't handle their mind?

I had
celine211 · 22-25, F
you really want a rod stick being put through your eyeballs and damaging your brain functioning?
SwanNual · 31-35, F
@celine211 No, I could not stand my mind back then and I just thought I don't want to turn into a monster. I was afraid of my own thoughts.
celine211 · 22-25, F
@SwanNual Are you ok now?
SwanNual · 31-35, F
@celine211 I'm fine now at this moment I think, it's just really difficult to live with it. I don't know when it will come back and haunt me again. It's like suddenly lose all control and you're at your own cruel mind's mercy and I had wanted so bad to just forget who I am forget everything about myself and wake up with a blank slate mind. Everything about myself wiped clean, all memories gone.

@AlmostAnAngel I had the thought while watching both films 'Shutter Island' and 'Sucker Punch'. I'm not even kidding was so affected by the quote in Shutter Island "You know, this place makes me wonder...Which would be worse: to live as a monster or to die as a good man?".
SW-User
Not seriously. I'd rather die than lose myself.
SwanNual · 31-35, F
@SW-User I wonder what that feels like.
SW-User
@SW-User don't die. You seem like a strong woman
SW-User
Naw! I keep control of myself most of the time! Besides........
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I'm about due for another one.
SwanNual · 31-35, F
@hunkalove Like you could do it twice?
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
No, I would rather be mad. I don't trust those barbaric methods. I knew a man who had electric shock treatment to his brain. It didn't help him because he doesn't function well anymore.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
@SwanNual What ? That kind of thing is still being done in the modern world ? My word ! That's cray cray and not even in a good way or on a good day. ☺
SwanNual · 31-35, F
@Wraithorn I don't know if they still practice it today, my sister is 31-years-old and she had that therapy when she was a child. The psychiatrist suggested it, she is the best child psychiatrist specialzed at treating people with autism. But idk perhaps her methods are cruel.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
@SwanNual I admit I do not know enough about mental illness to make an informed decision. Your parents and the psychiatrist might have done the right thing. It just sounds cruel.
SwanNual · 31-35, F
@ZenKitzune That too *sighs*...*hugs*
SW-User
@ZenKitzune I have been lost in a day light too. :(

@SW-User Perspective is important, we have to work hard to keep a good one.

SwanNual · 31-35, F
@SwarmSona How so?
SwarmSona · F
It's a list of things I don't wanna even begin to talk about on here
SwanNual · 31-35, F
@jackson55 Drugs kinda work, prescription pills aren't perfect with their side effects but it helps you sleep.
