a wife yes - i am one. a house wife no. i’ll never be that - a home maker perhaps.... if i had kids or something.

@NiftyWhite home maker? why don't you want to be an house wife?
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
house wife is a demeaning term meaning it’s my job to be someone’s wife and stay in a house. it’s no ones “job” to be a wife. it’s a choice to be married to someone.
popmol · 22-25, M
@NiftyWhite but it is a job right? I mean you clean cook go to a store take care of the kids so its equivalent to a job. But i said husbsnd too. Well i mean if the other is working to pay everything the other can take care of things at home right?
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
@popmol im not sure what you’re talking about but house wife isn’t a pleasant label.
popmol · 22-25, M
@NiftyWhite ok. i would see if it was forced on someone but if they chose it i think it would be fun :)
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
@popmol we’re not talking about the job! the title « housewife » is old, and obsolete and demeaning to women who care for kids or keep up the house. someone who keeps a home is better called a homemaker. if you don’t agree then call it whatever you want. it makes zero difference to me how ignorant you look.
popmol · 22-25, M
@NiftyWhite i'm sorry i didn't want to offend you but i till don't see why its demeaning. and house maker sounds like a silly way of saying a guy who made the house brick my brick xD
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
@popmol husband is a husband. there’s no extra term for men. a wife should also be called a wife. she’s not a house wife any more than you would call a guy a house husband. both men and women can be homemakers.
popmol · 22-25, M
@NiftyWhite well isn't it called stay at home husband/dad? house husband just sounds weird. well of course but not every wife is a house wife?
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
there’s also stay at home mom. there’s still no house husband like there is housewife.
popmol · 22-25, M
@NiftyWhite well there is just not a word because house husband sounds weird. i just heard people say stay at home husband but thats mostly for taking care of kids but it can be used for house husband too. i also think its more a title for woman because woman will more often choose to stay home with the kids.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
@popmol house husband sounds weird because it doesn’t exist. house wife should sound just as stupid but it doesn’t because it’s been applied so many times and people are familiar with it.
popmol · 22-25, M
@NiftyWhite no no no its because housewife sounds like t hoise words with together easy go from the last s to the next w, house husband is not that way at all. but stay at home dad does sounds good.
well that might applied to an english speak but i don't come in to contact with it at all since i'm from Belgium and i speak Dutch.

@popmol quite often it's not a choice.. can't live on one income anymore, unless wealthy!
popmol · 22-25, M
@Wiseacre indeed. or unless you don't use so much money xD
