That was a tragic error. How did they give him the wrong envelope? And, then people blamed Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway for the error. It overshadowed the win by Moonlight, which was reflective of the movement within the Academy to social pressures to recognize more diversity, whereas if La La Land had won, it would have been the same old Hollywood system at play. I saw that moment unfold as I had tuned back in to see Best Picture at the end.
