It was once the richest continent. This attracted conquest, invaders, marauders and imperialists. A great deal of its wealth was stolen during these conquests and the Atlantic slave trade. They are now also exploited under unfair trade deals by both the east and western countries.

@Firechidist yes of course. Africa has the greatest abundance of minerals / gold / diamonds etc, as well as having oil, but Africa has been robbed blind for centuries. The treatment of Africa by rich countries is a long term and coninuing crime against humanity.

@Firechidist by the way, it's not just the west exploiting Africa. China is buying huge swathes of land for tiny prices. It is also making very unfair trade deals with Africa.
