Have you ever been judged for having a different accent or dialect?

If so, how?

I find that most people say "buk" whereas I pronounce "book" the way it's spelt because people from my city tend to say it like that🤷🏽 Which is why a few relatives and friends from different cities find it annoying.

I have been told I "talk funny" by one of my exes. She was from New Mexico. I just don't think she was used to Californian accents.

@HijabaDabbaDoo Haha, that accent is really quite rare here despite the stereotype. More common to end up with more of a "Hollywood" accent(as in the way Hollywood actors sound) or a more "urban" one or somewhere in between. The Bay Area's common accent is definitely somewhere in between.
