Have you ever been judged for having a different accent or dialect?

If so, how?

I find that most people say "buk" whereas I pronounce "book" the way it's spelt because people from my city tend to say it like that🤷🏽 Which is why a few relatives and friends from different cities find it annoying.

When I went to college down South, I was teased a lot for having a “Yankee” accent. It was also during Jimmy Carter’s administration—the first time in awhile that a Deep Southerner had been in the White House. So the running joke was, “We don’t have accents anymore. [b]Y’all do[/b].” 😅
