My daughter saved up $6,000 for travel after college and was determined to make that last 6 months. She chose Asia because it is practically free to travel there now. She is on month 2 and right on track with her budget. I can't believe the beautiful things she is seeing and the people she has met. I feel sure she's learning way more worth remembering than she did at school. Besides, it is priceless how happy she is right now. : )
Travel has always been Money in the Bank. No one can ever take that experience from you. I think it's a great investment in yourself.
And people who don't see how travel can be expensive probably don't realize many people would have to take out a loan for major car repairs should something break, live paycheck to paycheck, or are one medical emergency away from homelessness.
