Is it rude to stop talking to somone based on gut feeling?

idk my guts never been wrong, sometimes something seems fishy but I don't like being rude and I feel I'm I'm being impolite if I just up and disappear.

Sure it's rude. But that doesn't mean it is a bad idea. If someone is making you uncomfortable you are not obligated to maintain contact. Sometimes it's just fine to be rude.
Who cares if its rude. Listen to your gut

Is it rude, does everybody do it and can you do it are all very different things.

@Faust76 to answer without answering

The general etiquette is to let people know where they're standing and why in most general terms rather than leave them hanging, for example "You're creepy as hell and I'm getting a restraining order."

The etiquette on SW is "Hi, tell me your mother's maiden name, send me a picture of you as 12 years old, and explain why the world is flat!" "Well my mother's maiden name is... and blahblahblah... Hello? Hello? Anybody there?" *blocked*. As for whether YOU can do it, and how, only you can answer.

If it's a real life friend you've been talking with for years, suddenly starting to avoid them because the polka-dot shirt they once wore makes you uncomfortable would certainly be considered rude. If it's an online friend who is suddenly taking an unhealthy interest with no reason into where you live, when you'll be alone etc. it would probably be rude not to stop talking. Wide grey areas exist in between.
