My guy friend told me I should consider backing out because I'm not in the best shape for hiking. Is he right or rude?

I want to go I'm this hike. The problem is that I'm out of shape and I lose my break easily. He told me, "Well I don't wanna be rude but this hike requires you to be in good shape and it's going to be a 6 hour hike from 9am to 3pm. You're.....not really in the best shape so you may wanna think about if you can do the hike, but hey if you want to come and give it a try, that would be fantastic." That kind of hurt my feelings. I don't know if I can do 6 hours but I wanna try. My three friends are in shape and they are thin. By the way, not everyone in shape is thin. Anyways I told my best friend and she said, "Well, I hate to tell you this but...he has a point. I mean you aren't really in the beat shape. Last time you went on a hike, you kept complaining if we're done and kept holding us back."
My other friend said, "Yeah and it wasn't a great experience for us so you may have to back out for now. Just saying. If you wanna go then that's cool but we don't wanna hear any complaints from you." I wish my friends weren't so blunt. I'm 6ft, unfit and 220lbs. The hike is next month. I won't have time to get in shape then.
