Why are we here?

If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking,

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

by Emily Dickinson
Let's say 95% certain. My personal mantra is 'May God grant me certitude and shield me from it.'

Because absolute certitude makes us smug and annoying and blocks the knowledge that there may be an answer that's righter than the one we have.

To live uncomfortable lives with purpose. To comfort, to care and to live a life with virtue. To dance and to hit baseballs as far as we can.

If I could cause one mind to think,
Help just one mind escape liberal indoctrination,
If I could cause one blind eye to see beyond confirmation bias,
To help many middle class families through tax cuts,
If I could secure the US border and make everybody safe,
If I only could save one brain from group thought, one soul from being aborted and one liberal from eternal damnation,
I shall have lived a just life....
@therighttothink50 ah, there has to be a place to meet in the middle.

@Mamapolo2016 The middle for pseudo liberals is eliminating free speech, barring conservative speakers from college campuses and giving amnesty to every illegal alien. Confiscating every gun, aborting every baby on demand and sending every Conservative who dares to question the climatie change cult to jail. So no....I think will pass on that scenario. I've seen where Europe is going and that is a big warning sign for all of us living here and for the rest of us who still have some cognitive brain function left within our skulls.

Liberalism is no longer an ideology but a group thought cult which believes no other point of view has the right to exist except their own, the mantra which says illogic and cofirmation bias should trump everything.
In many ways, as someone told me the other day, you're preaching to the choir. However, I think simply dismissing someone because their ideas are different than mine is counterproductive.

If I thought someone KNEW how to fix our mess, I'd be a devoted supporter. But I don't think any one person DOES know. It's easy to make sweeping general statements, but how does that help us get down to specifics and do something about this mess?

Both sides behave like two-year-olds complete with foot-stomping and I-Hate-You.

Both extremes are reactionary and provocateurs.

Anyway, that's what I think, but I've been wrong before.

To learn fact, regret, and adapt.
@MartinTheFirst very true. But that's WHAT we do, not why.

@Mamapolo2016 Are you certain?
