What's the best way to get hard dead skin off foot?

I wore a lot of open shoes in the summer, now my foot is hard and rough. I feel uncomfortable especially because partner likes to give me foot massage every night. How can I fix this? I've become so lazy caring for my feet

I used to have my ex gf from 2007 soak her feet in a foot bath. Then I'd use this pumice cream that activates with the water and I'd rub it on the callous areas and use a foot file afterwards. Apparently I gave her a better pedicure than the hair and nail place she went to lol.
