Do you see panhandlers often?

I see a different panhandler on the same corner almost every week. I wonder if they work together 馃

And I give money to street folks. I figure it's good for my soul, even if it gets them into more eternal trouble.

@Mamapolo2016 It's all so crazy-making. I live in a southwestern city that cashes in big on "quaint" and "pretty." A good number of pretty wealthy and/or famous people live here. Pressure was brought to bear on city government to nix new apartment buildings so as not to spoil the 'quaint and picturesque' qualities of the area.

Result? Limited available housing. Prices on rent and house purchases shoot up, putting housing out of reach for the poor.

More homeless and less picturesque scenery.

The reasoning, I'm sure, is that limited and expensive housing will cause low-income people to move on, only it doesn't. They stay and live on the streets.

Oh, yeah, and some of the famous people who live here whether part-time or full-time are from Hollywood. You know, where the big-hearted activists and philanthropists live and make their kazillions.
