Compliments: (see below)

Men. When you receive a compliment from a man is it more believable for you?

Ladies: As above but when a female compliments you?

Compliments are interesting. I think that most compliments go unspoken. I often reflect throughout the day about the people that I look at. I might think that a colleague's hair looks lovely today, but I wouldn't interrupt conversation to tell her. I don't think it matters whether the compliment comes from a male or a female. I take them at face value and say thank you, but while it is nice to receive compliments, I don't find that they really change the perception that I have of myself. I'm comfortable with myself, my flaws, and my personality.
So, I suppose the answer is - it doesn't really matter. It's nice to compliment people, and as long as it is done tactfully, it shouldn't matter. Now.. if it's creepy leering, that's off-putting.

The most believable compliment is when you hear it indirectly, as when someone tells you someone else told them, and especially so if it was from a woman, because many women are more critical than supportive of each other.

@moonchild0315, wow thanks for this reply, I will read it again later as I just skimmed through it but thanks very much for that response. I mean taking the time to write it, if it's creepily leering. Stands out.

I'm fine when another woman compliments me. She's just being nice, there's no harm in that😊

no. I'm pretty skeptical of the compliment regardless xD

@cherokeepatti, well
I will compliment you now on your replies to questions. They always make sense and you are not smug. Compliments can sometimes cause people to become smug.

I will have to agree with @Dontlikekungfupanda Gender shouldn't matter.

Yea, I don't usually believe compliments from anyone, but I'm more likely to believe a female.
