Are you made aware if you're blocked on Facebook?

I want to block someone, she's a friend of a friend, but I see her at least twice a week. If my account would just disappear from her list it might not be too bad, is that what happens, what will she see if she tried to look at my page? I know it sounds juvenile, but I just can't be bothered with the awkward conversation if she asks why I did it, she's rather highly strung, and is rather fond of drama
