you will be grown when you have responsibilities ,and you handle them like a mature person ,
I was filling a "grown ups "shoes at 13 ,married by 16
sadly I did not "grow up " until I lost my second wife at 34
and finally accepted it was not the world that was screwed up and needed to change ,it was me ,I was used to getting everything I wanted ,everything going my way ,I had never failed at anything I set out to do until my wife left me at 23 ,,and I had already served 4 yrs in the military ,but I was still making kid decisions ,acting on impulse ,never looking at how my choices effected others .
or if I was even attempting to make the woman I took for a wife happy .
Turns out there is more to being grown then just able to hold down a job and make babies
2 wives leaving me was a clue ,its was me ,not them
Then I grew up ,at 34
Happy Birthday by the way
maybe you are a wiser young man then I was and it won't take you so long ,
but sadly ,girls usually finally grow up around 30 ,boys generally take just a little longer
and 18 ,thats just a number ,I have known 16 year olds that were grown
they made sacrifices and choices for the good of everyone ,not just themselves

@rckt148 Great lesson in adult behaviour and requirements. I'm sorry you had to lose before you could win, but the point is you did grow up. The person to whom you are speaking unfortunately has no desire to learn.

@Serenitree my kids as I had to do as well ,
finally asked how did I get so wise ,they were finally all over 30
they also asked how I knew 30 was kind of the magic number
My Mom was a very wise woman and had a degree in psychology ,she was a RN as well but for years she was some kind of screwed up (she had thyroid cancer and was diagnosed as Bi=polar .(she was a spoiled brat with a medical condition )
but she was always analyzing my women ,warning me they were not mature enough for me and I was not grown just because I could make babies .
My Dad was one of the wisest men I ever knew ,and His Dad's Dad was one of the founders of our town ,so I come from a line of smart ,very wise men ,,
But I ,mr know it all ,thought they were old fashion ,out of touch and I was wiser them all of them (for a time it seemed like I was more successful )
But after my second wife left me I had to humble myself before the Lord .
He allowed me to be stripped of everything and I mean everything
When He finally got my attention ,I had a lot of making up to do and a lot of asking for forgiveness .
But with my own kids I never tried to run their ships ,I gave them sound advice ,and when they fell ,I was there to help them get up again ,I was allowed to make my own mistakes ,they were allowed to make theirs
and like Mom said ,somewhere around 30 they all grew up ,,I was 34
Thats when you finally get your elders are not as dumb as you assume
and all the stuff they said ,was for your good ,,not theirs

@rckt148 “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”

@Serenitree My Dad told me that when I left home at 13
I surprised him and did well on my own ,but he was right ,
its amazing how wise he and Grandpa got while I was away LOL
