Do you think the 18 year olds landing at Normandy wanted a safe place like the 18 year olds today?

I think they had legitimate reasons. Now 18 year olds want to avoid everything. How can you ever grow to be a competent adult if you don’t subject yourself to the world

Most who belong to today's generation are aimless and they want it easy mostly. That time there was much less distraction and they had a sense of duty. Guys these days also go join the military, but at Normandy certain death was waiting for them and they were aware of it. They didn't have today's technology to fight the war, and it worst was the first wave that was just sent over there to die. We can argue that Normandy could have been better handled, then again everything else could have been.
