Which historical figure wasn’t as amazing as most people think they were?

Most of them i imagine.
It's only in recent years that recorded history can shed light on facts that actually happened.
Much of it is hearsay or legend passed down verbally from one generation to another.

The Founding Fathers (of the US). Many of them were slaveowners. Thomas Jefferson started having sex with one of his slaves (who bore him children) when she was 13 or 14 years old.
