Came out of the closet and lost a lot of my str8 friends, why?

I came out of the closet and had a lot of support from all of my friends, I had a great group of friends. The str8 guy friends in my group were very supportive and said nothing would change. As time went on, they stopped responding to texts/phone calls, started coming up with excuses to not hang out and now i've been ghosted by friends I talked to everyday, hung out with, partied with. I never came onto my friends in anyway. It's hurtful. Anyone have any opinions or thoughts as to why this happened?

Unlike others who have commented, I don't think it's necessarily because they're homophobic/fake/close-minded. When I would find out a guy liked me, I would distance myself from them because I didn't want to hurt his feelings by saying I wasn't interested. I wouldn't doubt a few of your friends are fake, but maybe some feared you liked them and didn't want to face an awkward situation of turning you down. Just my thoughts.
