Came out of the closet and lost a lot of my str8 friends, why?

I came out of the closet and had a lot of support from all of my friends, I had a great group of friends. The str8 guy friends in my group were very supportive and said nothing would change. As time went on, they stopped responding to texts/phone calls, started coming up with excuses to not hang out and now i've been ghosted by friends I talked to everyday, hung out with, partied with. I never came onto my friends in anyway. It's hurtful. Anyone have any opinions or thoughts as to why this happened?

I’m sorry about that. They sound like fair weather friends, more comfortable with who they thought you were. It took courage to come out, and possibly some of them will recognize that and return, I’ve seen it happen. In the meantime, you deserve real friends, and they will come, people with whom you can be yourself. 🙂
