@HisToy You don't have to spend at all. Like I said feeding the corporates is not actually a sign of affection. It can be something handmade or something made on the computer including memories over past 1 year. Others have suggested great things as well. You can pick the one that suits you the most.

For a 1st anniversary though I would stick with presents which are cheap financially but mean a lot sentimentally. For one of it doesn't work out you aren't stuck with debts, but mostly it shows him that you really think and care about him, rather than fobbing him off with easily bought gifts
