What are you holding on to? Are you choosing comfort over courage?

SeekingHappiness · 36-40, M
I ended my shitty marriage 7 months ago. I'm going thru the phase of missing the comfort of such an awful relationship. Funny how something awful can have a feeling of comfort... Everyday I feel like I made a bad decision, until I hear a shitty song on the radio that resurrects terrible memories , and I start to hate the thought of even considering comfort from such a bad relationship....if that makes sense

@SeekingHappiness Makes perfect sense. I do believe those feelings must be pretty normal, if that makes you feel better. I admire your strength for having ended something that was hurting you, despite the comfort of it.

It will get easier. 💙
@SeekingHappiness It makes perfect sense. There's comfort and security in anything that's consistent and to which you've become well acclimated.
Myself.. I dont want to hold on to anything but myself anymore.. my experiences taught me that I only have control over me and no matter how trustworthy someone is, there will always come a time when they would have to turn their backs on you.

I am in the process of letting go. It does feel exciting.

@SW-User That's amazing! Good for you. Don't give up!
I hate when people lecture.
OverMe · 46-50, F
@Spoiledbrat Oh, was I lecturing?
A little. 😄 @OverMe
OverMe · 46-50, F
@Spoiledbrat Shall I give you a lecture on lectures? 😝

memories of shadows of ghosts.

@SW-User Memories are ok, aren't they? Are they bad memories? 😕
SW-User
@OverMe I dunno. but when you think you've got ahold of something and when you tug there's nothing there.. it can be a shock.

@SW-User Did this happen recently? You deserve time to be sad about a loss of someone dear to you...
OverMe · 46-50, F
Sorry. Maybe you could consider trying to let go of it...
Well? Are you choosing comfort over courage?
OverMe · 46-50, F
@PhoenixPhail Yes, I do this often, as my therapist pointed out to me. I thought it was an interesting perspective, and it really struck me.

@SW-User in order to stop living in the past you must fix the flux capacitor Great Scott

With age, I guess comfort.
Great Question!

Something that cannot be. It is indeed comfort over courage.
