why is there not an option to reply to people personally?

They are working on it. It seems to be the next thing coming, but as Martin said, it's slow. The developers all have jobs. This is a spare time volunteer thing they do, so it will be a while yet, maybe. I know that it is the one thing I want more than any other. I could have done without PMs. Didn't need the green dot to see who's here and who's not, but nested replies, those will do away with a lot of misunderstandings.

You can send a pm ...but only if they don't have their filters on ...I love the filter option ...just saying

You can private message people directly here at SW if that's what you mean by your question. If you mean the ability to post a public reply directly to a person's reply, they are working on that. That's called "nested replies/direct comments" and that is almost ready according to their chart of what they are working on.

It looks like it's getting close to done, but the Q&A looked like that for several weeks. So, it's a waiting game.
