If your therapist hasn't helped you to sort yourself out, find another.

@mathsman My therapist is actually really awesome, and I can recognize that bc I've had many over the last 20+ years. I think the trouble is me, not her. But thank you for the legitimate advice.

@OverMe Of course the trouble is YOU that's why you're seeing a therapist.
If your therapist is so good, matters should have been resolved.
Maybe you need a psychoanalyst to help you dig around inside yourself.

@mathsman What do you consider the difference between a therapist and a psychoanalyst? Im pretty sure she has been psychoanalyzing me.
mathsman · 70-79, M
@OverMe A psychoanalyst makes YOU do the looking inside.
The difficulty with therapists is that they think they know and understand your problem.
Only YOU can understand it.
If your therapist is a psychoanalyst it should be on their business card.

@mathsman Yeahh, I HAVE been doing the looking. All the things that I've avoided in the past, the things I thought and felt that i didn't even know. The 100x daily of "I hate you", which i now post because im trying to make it more real and not hide behind it. She's making me see so much, which is currently why im in this deep depression. Stop talking because you really don't know what you think you know.

@OverMe But from where does it all originate?
Therapy only addresses the symptoms, which you've been portraying in your posts.
Psychoanalysis addresses the cause.
OverMe · 46-50, F
@mathsman Just because I havent been portraying the cause in my posts doesn't mean I don't know where they originate.
mathsman · 70-79, M
@OverMe Well, it seems that way.
So this is: "a core belief developed from very early childhood. Negative self talk that ive done my entire life and didn't even know it until the last year or so."
So what created that?
OverMe · 46-50, F
@mathsman It's a really long, complicated story.

@OverMe Love to hear it
