I agree with the movement 100%, but I’m not sure on the tactics used at all times... but then again, I don’t have an alternative for them either. I agree there is a problem, when as a white kid who grew up in suburbia USA notices that there is a socital prejudice against a group of people. A movement is necessary but I wish I knew the most effective way to deliver the message... frankly people are just pieces of shit and talking about it doesn’t work, because too many people believe out of sight out of mind... I stand with those who are oppressed... we are all humans, we are all here trying to survive, we don’t have to hold down another to gain an advantage, we can all prosper together... it’s sad, really

@Tryingtofindabalance No one is oppressed in America. What a bunch of shit.

@Tryingtofindabalance I like how you put that
Tryingtofindabalance · 36-40, M
@TheProphet you cant be serious about this...
TheProphet · M
@Tryingtofindabalance Very serious.

@TheProphet you obviously have never visited a gheto, or have a relationship with a minority who was raised there. It’s not a lack of culture or family... there just isnt the resources that there are in the suburbs.

So ones arguement might be they can get a job and get out... but it’s not that easy... be honest with yourself, do you have a positive view on a young African American who embraces his heritage, I am guessing not... and there in lies the problem... prejudice has sealed the fate for too many. This is oppression and it is happening every where... I see it, many people see it. It’s the bigots of the country who can’t. We all deserve a fair shake at life.

@Tryingtofindabalance what do you mean by 'embraces his heritage'?

(Q from a non - American)
TheProphet · M
@Tryingtofindabalance No one makes them stay there. They can live and work where they want to. They stay there because they segregate themselves. They can get educated but most won't. They have the lives they choose for themselves. I own rental properties in the ghetto here. The ones I've seen haven't impressed me as being worth much. They are Americans only. This african American bullshit is keeping them down.

@SW-User I think the better word was culture here... we all are a product of our environment. I don’t think anyone would argue with the fact that despite different ethnicities, the culture of everyone is going to influence the way we think act or dress... even within the white population you see this... there is a distinct difference between the white culture of the north vs south vs West And east coasts
TheProphet · M
@Tryingtofindabalance True, but if you isolate yourselves you are not going to fit in.
Tryingtofindabalance · 36-40, M
@TheProphet if you can’t afford to pay rent in low income areas, how do you afford to leave?
TheProphet · M
@Tryingtofindabalance They all mostly get housing assistance. If they educated themselves and got jobs instead of being on generational welfare they could leave the ghettos.
Tryingtofindabalance · 36-40, M
@TheProphet bottom line is this... I know, and you know there are unfair prejudices placed on black Americans... we have all witnessed it... anyone who says they haven’t is a liar... the problem is these prejudices become the perceived “reality” and it starts affecting society. We are living this right now.
TheProphet · M
@Tryingtofindabalance That will never change until blacks stop acting oppressed and start making something of themselves. They currently just reinforce white peoples opinions of them as criminal trash and no one wants to be around them.
Tryingtofindabalance · 36-40, M
@TheProphet Whatever you want to believe... just imagine if the tables were turned on you... if this was your reality... how many times you going to reach for a cookie knowing your going to get slapped in the process... eventually you stop going for a cookie... eventually everyone stops going for the cookie. Society as a whole needs to see this... ain’t no one going to make a living on the wages offered around ghettos... instead of chastising and calling people lazy, why don’t we look at this problem as a whole? Do you honestly think for one second that most people wouldn’t try to better themselves if they could see a path to do it? It’s easy for us to say yes, but sadly that’s not the reality for most. Many see no way out... which goes back to the social problems we talked about before... I really don’t know if I have anything left to discuss with you... you clearly have a preconceived notion on the subject
TheProphet · M
@Tryingtofindabalance That's the difference between me and them. I'd never give up and just settle. I built mu own business on my own and they can if they'd try, but they've mostly given up. I have little sympathy for them and that attitude.
Tryingtofindabalance · 36-40, M
@TheProphet you are precieved differently by society than black Americans as well. I’m done, there just isn’t any reason to talk about this anymore... you clearly have your opinion set in stone.

@Tryingtofindabalance very well said. I agree with everything you have said.

Nobody has a clue what it means to be black, unless they are black themselves. Let’s start with the first black president...How many black people before Obama tried to run and lost? Next if you think of the number of successful black celebrities. They weren’t born rich. They came from scraps. Just to name a few.... The Jacksons, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Steve Harvey. They work hard.

Where I come from, there’s racism. It’s not easy for blacks to get jobs. And I went to school with some highly intelligent people, including myself. The type of career that I want, there aren’t that many black people. And it will be 10x’s harder for me to get, than someone that is white. These are facts. That’s never stopped before knowing that, and it’s not going to stop me now. If my mom can be the first VP in her company. I can be one of the first blacks to have my dream job.

Being black is not what keeps us from being successful. It’s employees would rather higher Matthew than Tyrone.
