How to be polite without being welcoming?

I mean how can you be nice and a good lad, yet people wouldn't percept that as I like them or I want to be friends with them?

Unfortunately we can't control or predict how people will perceive our words or actions....sometimes we have to be really clear and not be vague in hopes that they will get it. It isn't their responsibility

@Fernie how do You do it?

@Dan193 do what? Speak the truth? If someone misinterprets your words, feelings or actions, then you tell them the truth....No, I didn't mean that or No, you misunderstood me, etc. That requires courage but it clears things up immediately and then it's over.

@Fernie If you comment to someone's post for example, by being nice and encouraging and they message you with "hi, how are you? or whatever else", do you tell them "No, I didn't mean it that way, you misunderstood me, fuck off"?

Are they messaging you personally or publicly?

@Dan193 that happens to me frequently...it really does...in that case I delete the PM and ignore it because I think when a person does that they are looking for something I don't have to give...I have no intention of getting involved like that, explaining and all that, with a total stranger because there is no connection there so I ignore them and 99% of the time that does the trick...you don't owe them any of your time

@Fernie damn, that's a bit harsh xD I guess I just don't have it in me, that's why asked about how to be polite, yet not giving them any wishful hopes of us being best friends x]

@FCNantes that was just an example, but it could be both
