Conveniences of modern living, which have afforded us a sedentary life style, is one component. But the main culprit of obesity is the food we eat. Watch "What The Health."

@PhoenixPhail The microwave oven has something to do with it. Some foods have a high level of Resistant starches in them when eaten cold and when you reheat them in a microwave it destroys the resistant starch levels. I used to lose weight every summer and I would eat cold leftovers because I didn't want to heat the kitchen up by reheating them in the stove. I got a microwave oven and started reheating everything and stopped losing weight in the summer.
@cherokeepatti Microwaving is known to not only "kill" food, but is shown to render foods carcinogenic. The food is changed chemically. I used to use the microwave oven on occasion, but now, not even to reheat something. Many people, including myself, won't eat anything that comes out of a microwave.

@PhoenixPhail the plastic "microwave dishes" and plastic "microwaveable" wrappers on foods also can leak carcinogens. Know someone who lost his grandpa from cancer, he was bad about microwaving packs of hot dogs in the wrapper (which the doctor said probably caused his throat cancer)....most plastics are dangerous, and that includes linings of food cans.
@cherokeepatti I totally agree. It's nothing short of a tragedy the corporate machine values money over people's lives.

@PhoenixPhail There are hundreds of ways humans are being sickened in this country, I believe a lot of it is deliberate. If you can find the book "Rise of the Fourth Reich" by Jim Marrs read it.
@cherokeepatti Sounds like a good one. Thanks for the recommendation.
In my concern, I've become familiar with a plethora of ways we're being injured. And yes, much of it is deliberate.

@PhoenixPhail Not putting a protectant in the public water supply to keep lead in pipes from leaching into drinking water....that's pure evil. Saved a little bit of money for the city but ruined the water and poisoned people including thousands of children. I've felt this had to be deliberate, it couldn't have been pure ignorance could it?
@cherokeepatti It could have been pure ignorance, but even if the dangers were known, the practice of spending as little money as possible has become commonplace, even at the expense of people's health and well-being. It's but one expression of the run-away crisis in consciousness which plagues our planet.
