How do you feel about people who keep "One-Upping"?

I mean "One-Upping" as someone, who in the middle of a controversial event, would try to be cynical in mentioning a hyped event people forgot about. Example: While everyone was worried about police brutality, what ever happened to the Flint Crisis?

I'm kind of an ass about it. I often point it out and let them know what I think.
I will often point out that this is not the issue at hand, pr if they care to go deal with that on their own time and not mine they are welcome to. Pisses me off when people try to redirect the energy of the moment to something that has little bearing on what is being dealt with.
