This arch has survived two catastrophes. What could it possibly be made of?

I don't think what it's made of (wood) has much to do with its survival as much as the design. It doesn't offer much wind resistance so it survived the air blast of the bomb. And maybe having only two points of contact with the ground helped it survive the quake (much like the tree)
