@ProdigalSummer I find doctors these days to be not so good at diagnosis and reluctant to refer to a specialist. I live in the Uk and a lot of people have said this. Kinda scary considering people I know have had near brushes with death because of it.

I'm not qualified to answer on that, because amount of fluid depends on what you're eating, body mass, humidity, etc. Lots of sugar/salt/junk can lead to thirst.
My son got type 1 diabetes and it was his thirst and frequent urination that gave us the clue.
