No. I'm currently trying to work in retail.

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Retail is hard work !
If it's not endless product promotions or offers you have to fill your head with; or stock checking for dates and markdowns to avoid stock loss.
Absentee staff or ineffectual management.
Chiller and freezer temp. checks on a regular basis. Constant cleaning and restocking; daily inventories; returns; Head office 'advisories' to be implemented immediately.....
All that and we haven't mentioned awkward customers; till screw-ups; area managers with little or no interest in what goes RIGHT, only when things go wrong !
No. Anyone who knocks those who work retail, is an ass !
MeInCharge · 41-45, M
Not at all. I have flirted with many.
FeyreGrey · 22-25, F
not at all, everyone has to start somewhere. at least they are doing something to support themselves. it is better then the people who are not doing anything when they could be working and doing something.
Fuck those idiot losers!

Have you looked at and ever evaluated your average customers?

Not the Gasoline and coffee/soda/snack people, but all of the others??
SW-User
@KneAuxBody Good point -- the customers are usually semi-homeless meth heads.
UndercoverBard · 31-35, M
No, not at all. A job is a job, and a person is a person. A persons job means nothing to me as far as how I view them. I worked in retail not too long ago myself anyways.
Cabernetfranc · 80-89, M
No I do not. In particular I admire retail workers who effortlessly switch between English and Spanish. I can not do that.🤓

i work in retail so i know how you feel

@LittleEvilOne oh ive seen many many things but i stayed tough and grew from my experiences

@LittleEvilOne 🤣the nerve of some people smh im not sure if I would've kept my cool either
Capo2 · 56-60, M
Anyone who works has my respect and I treat them with kindness and dignity.
SW-User
No way, I work in retail too. We're just humans doing a job that needs to be done.
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
I know how you feel, I worked overnight at a supermarket and even my daytime coworkers looked at us like lowlifes, I couldn’t imagine what the customers thought. But I think any one who’s worked a job like that(which is a lot of people) knows it doesn’t mean that
concrete · 31-35, F
@JRVanguard I hear ya. I swear people have told their kids yeah go to school so you don't work here or well she does work here lol
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
@concrete Yeah but you never know someone’s story from their job. A lot of the guys I worked with were heroin addicts trying to feed their addictions, but some of them took the job when they were young and have been there for 20 years and never looked back
SubZeroSlays808 · 26-30, M
I worked at a Dollar Tree from the tail end of 2013 to the February 2016 and that was how I felt I was viewed the entire time I was there. It always baffled me because I never viewed people who work in retail as any of those things myself.

I guess dollar store customers are judgemental parasites.
Ballora · 26-30, F
I don't. Aye a jobs a job.
Lochlee · 51-55, F
I think some people are rude and therefore being in the service industry is not easy. You have to "sell" your smiley personality, which is difficult when people are being horrible. You are not beneath them, not matter how they treat you.

"Everybody's gotta have somebody to look down on. Someone to feel better than, anytime they please" Kris Kristofferson

I can't say it any better than that. If you do the best job you can, no matter what the job is, you are to be respected in my opinion.
whateverhappens · 26-30, F
Making that paper tho
SW-User
No I started my working life in retail. I just dont like that if theres someone older than me working and they call me sir.

Sorry but I have no right to be called Sir by someone older than me or anyone for that fact.
All work is honorable. Serving people is the highest level of human interaction. Not sitting behind a desk like a zombie day after day. No disrespect to those that do. I did it once myself.
Never. We all have to start somewhere. Some like retail as a career. You must work hard at 711. It is busy. You are a winner, making money, and learning about a job and about people. Good for you, girl.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
Some, yes... But only because that's what they project... Mostly a stopping off place on the road to somewhere better
Reject · 26-30, M
I feel like it's a good starting point, but I'm not sure why someone would want a career out of that.
SW-User
Not me, I am actually kind to them because the majority of my life was employment in retail establishments

No exactly. Some are young and for all I know getting their PhD. Others, I think, good for you -- work is work.
ForeverOnMyGuard · 22-25, F
Fast food is more pathetic. Retail is like a step up (go team!)
ForeverOnMyGuard · 22-25, F
I work in retail btw it's not really pathetic at all. I work hard and i earn what I make. Anyone who disrespects me or my coworkers is free to walk out that door and never come back
No i view them as superior beings as they have a job and are a useful member of society :)
SW-User
why care? change yourself instead of changing them
No they have an honest job earning their own way.
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
No, retail workers deserve respect and good wages.
Finegent · 22-25, M
You have to put up with people. People are the worse.
I thought I recognized you
Can I have a big bite please...
Mustermann · 36-40, M
No, I respect other people's work.
SW-User
No. They're just doing a job.
OkieGemini · 61-69, F
Not at all! Been there, did that
concrete · 31-35, F
@ExtremeNext how come?
Not at all.

No, I never have thought that. It's honest work and dealing with the public isn't easy.
