Is it possible for a person to be so traumatised that they misinterpret certain behaviour?

If a person is constantly told another person is a liar and a cheat, when they over hear a conversation could that cause them to misinterpret what's being said.

If a person is raped and taken advantage of over and over could they misinterpret kindness.

If this person is always angry and someone tells they are angry will it be hard for them to recognize they are.

Is there a term for such behaviour?
