Would you go vegan if you saw a disturbing documentry about animal abuse

I heard that the documentry called Earthlings made a lot of people turn vegan. I have never seen it but I read that a scene where a fox was getting skinned alive turned and looked at the camera but I like meat.

Meat is just too satisfying to give up, even after watching those videos.

Yes, we are cruel; we are human. I buy local meat (pork, chicken, and beef come from local farms) so I can eat a bit more ethically, but I'll still buy a burger in the city.

This is why:

The fact is, a great many things die in the wild just as bad as on battery farms. I just saw a YouTube video where wild dogs pulled a wildebeest out of the water and started eating him while fully alive. They chewed and bit their way into his lower belly and genitals, literally pulling long intestines out of the wildebeest while he rolled his head around and moaned.

I'm not giving up meat if those wild dogs are out there doing THAT.

@JustAcanuck Lol, agreed I think it's natural to eat meat animals do it even some plants.

no but I do think that people who skin animals alive should be shot without trial after being paraded around the city on the back of a truck

@SW-User Agreed

@Chickie everything dies, but I loathe gratuitous cruelty

Earthlings is a type of propaganda.
The shown images are very cruel and infinitley inhumane, but they are the result of our own desire eating as much meat as we want and when we want it.
Its neither good nor bad to eat meat or to be a vegetarian or vegan.
What makes it bad is to blame others for following the lifestyle they want.
I didnt watch Earthlings and I refuse to watch it, because I know that this industry - as many others - is indeed very cruel.
I dont need to see it.
An industry, such as this, or an extreme state of mind, being political or religious, left or right, are always not a solution.
People would have to butcher their own cattle. So theyd learn to value it again.
Being a vegan or vegetarion doesnt make you free of guilt or speaks you free of any sin, as well as eating meat doesnt make you a bad people.
Do what you want, but asways consider that you cant control how people react to it. The art of living is to pursue what you love, and still do so, when others dont love the same thing.

@Somerset I was starting to say that I thought it was propaganda from vegans but I thought I was probably wrong I'm glad I am not.

I wouldnt necessarily say I am right. But the intention behind Earthlings is pretty direct.
Its my impression of this "documentary".

Idk, I feel it's funny how nobody bats an eye while eating chicken, pork, beef etc but go batshit crazy when the Chinese eat dogs (referring to the outrage over that dog meat festival there)
Chickie · F
@SW-User It's their culture I guess but dogs are seen more of a companion than food
SW-User
True, I meant to point out the hypocrisy in it
unknownpoetx · 36-40, M
I've seen many documentary about it and I'm not a vegan. plus what you watch in those documentaries it's not the real truth. I buy biologic grown food with cows that grow on the countryside. nothing like you see on tv
Chickie · F
@unknownpoetx I believe you
DaughterOfGone · 36-40, F
I've seen a fair amount of animal abuse videos, I've defiantly cut down on meat but not given up completely.

Also switched to eating a lot of chicken, I don't feel guilty for eating chicken because chickens LOVE eating chicken
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
That was a PETA production I believe, they may have paid the people to do that. I've seen it all, I still don't care. Death is the ultimate price.
Chickie · F
@Jackaloftheazuresand It felt like it was made by some organization like PETA and a bit fishy.
. Death is the ultimate price.
for what? For criminals and abusers yeah.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
What I mean by that is that despite all the torture and abuse the animal is still being killed, something nobody has ever come back from

It's true. it is not made to turn you vegan, just telling the reality how it is

I think everyone should watch it
Chickie · F
@SW-User The world is ugly. I may watch it when I have free-time.
SW-User
@Chickie I can't watch it again, made me cry and haunted me for so many days
Strawberry9999 · 31-35, F
I've watched that kind of stuff and I still eat meat
Chickie · F
@Strawberry9999 I don't I get disturbed as easily as I thought I would. I see screenshots and I am not distrubed I guess some people are just sensitive.
Strawberry9999 · 31-35, F
I cried when I watched them. I just like meat @Chickie
Girlbehindthecurtain · 31-35, F
