Why do people block you if you don't respond to them fast enough?

This has happened to me several times now. I really don't understand the need to block a person because they didn't respond to a PM fast enough. I have never done anything offensive to anyone, but I get blocked for this reason at least once a month! I really am curious as to why this would happen...
