Am I the only one who thinks saying " hello" to someone you know feels impersonal?

Im referring to like co-workers or family members saying a simple " hello" and nothing more. Maybe its just me🤔😕

What gets me is, I say hey, they say how are You? I say I'm good how are you doing? And there gone lol
It's like some people speak just to be speaking, if I say something I listen and there's a purpose

@Letsjustbreathe me too. Sometimes i dont ask how they are cause they wont ask me and i know they dont care for the answer i have so... Some people..ugh

I agree. I always follow up with "how are you today". Unless it is my wife's friend then I never ask how she is. She has more ailments than a 100 bed nursing home and I don't want to go through that again. Once was more than enough.

I usually just say hi 🤷 seems better than walking past and not saying anything.
