@Deadcutie Two possible answers for this. The first is that it is taken from the Latin Quid Pro Quo. Which basically means 'Something for something else' (as i understood it)
The second possibility is that may have been a reference to Quidhampton in Berkshire; England where it's believed the Pound note was printed at the time.
