Do you think saying "first world problems" is arrogant?

I just saw a youtube vid where a man was complaining that burger king wasn't selling burgers today. Someone in the comment section replied with that phrase and I was thinking is this fair? We live in a supposedly more advanced society than say Mexico or Africa. Why should we ignore those problems and focus on theirs? Isn't that policing the world? Why don't we just let them live in their hell holes and try and clean up ours?

The severity of problems is proportional to your distance to them...
No, it's just a way of reminding people that sometimes we do lose track of how trivial our problems are by comparison to the rest of the world---still. That's simply the truth.

I think that was a fair comment - not having your daily Whopper is not a real problem. I dont think the saying " first world problems" means that we should focus on other countries' problems but rather a tongue in the cheek saying that it is not a serious problem.

If you want to focus on cleaning up your own hellhole I doubt the dwindling burger supply at Burger King is a good place to start, lol

Very true couldn't agree more. We have no control over what happens in 2nd and 3 world countries.

An interesting point.
I guess it's about how you view the world.
And even more importantly, how much of it you've seen.
I'm guessing you haven't seen much of it yet. Maybe you will. Or maybe you've always had access to whatever you want whenever you want it. That's not a fault but it does impact perspective.
But that said, Burger King not selling burgers IS a first world problem.

"White people problems"

Um it was a black guy who posted the video!

"Doubt burger king is a good place to start cleaning up dwindling hellhole"

Never said it was

That would probably be too easy to do.
